About DLL Travel Baseball

In response to community demand for additional baseball opportunities for developing players who want to continue participating in Dulles Little League, DLL has created an affiliation with the Potomac Riverdogs Travel Baseball Club.  DLL-affiliated travel baseball teams will operate as independent entities while remaining part of the Potomac Riverdogs Travel Baseball Club.

Benefits of the DLL / Riverdogs affiliation include:

  • Players continue playing in Dulles Little League
  • Enriched opportunities for DLL player development
  • Continued community involvement and bonding with friends/teammates
  • Build player confidence, develop players as house team leaders
  • Coordination of DLL and travel team schedules and field allocations

Time commitments for travel baseball grow with the age of the player.  At the early stages, this will include participation in a limited number of additional practices, games and tournaments.  As the players become older, time commitments increase, and will often include Sunday double headers and selected tournaments over holiday weekends.

During the Spring season, participation on a DLL-affiliated travel team requires simultaneous participation on a house Little League team for the 8u-12u teams.  During the Fall season, DLL encourages, but does not require, simultaneous participation on a house Little League team.

Players can expect to pay a separate fee for travel baseball over and above the fees required to participate in the Dulles Little League baseball program.  Travel team fees are determined by each individual travel team.

Travel teams graduate to the next age group on August 1 each year.  A player's age on April 30 is used to determine eligibility for each of these teams.  DLL-affiliated travel teams usually practice once or twice a week, and play games or tournaments on select Sundays during the DLL season.  They typically also practice once a week indoors during the winter months.
