Fall 2004 Registration Information
Season Information
Practices for the fall season will start in late August.
The first games will be right after Labor Day. The season will run until
late October. There are no standings kept and there are no playoffs.
The fall season is meant to be an instructional and developmental season
where players can prepare for the next level. The emphasis is on participation
and development.
Majors teams may have a change to participate in a tournament
in October involving other area leagues -- details are being worked
out.
Registration Information
Registration is closed for Fall 2004.
About Dulles Little League
Dulles Little League offers baseball programs from T-ball
through Little League Majors for boys and girls.
Eligibility
to Play: There are two main criteria to meet to be eligible to
play in Dulles Little League:
Age: DLL is open to players with a
playing age of 5 to 12 inclusive. To determine a player's Playing
Age, calculate their age on July 31, 2005. (Players 13 to 19 on July
31 are eligible for the Eastern
Loudoun Babe Ruth League.)
Residency: DLL is open to players living
within our boundaries. Little League
allows some exceptions to the residency requirements which are handled
on a case-by-case basis. For instance, a player who played in DLL
for the last two years but who has moved outside the league boundaries
may possibly be able to receive a waiver to continue to play in DLL.
Little League sets the criteria for how a player is considered a resident
of our boundaries; in general, if either of the player's parents OR
a player's court-appointed legal guardian resides within the boundaries.
For eligibility questions, contact the league vice president:
John Dec.
Tryouts/Division
Placement: There are no tryouts for the Fall season. In general,
placement into divisions will work as follows: All playing age 5-year-olds
will be placed in T-ball. Playing age 6-year-olds will generally be
placed in T-ball, though parents may request Rookie as described below.
Playing age 7-year olds will generally be placed in Rookie. Other players
will generally be placed in one division higher than the division they
played in the Spring, though some AAA players may be placed in AAA for
the Fall. Players who played Majors in the Spring will be placed in
Majors in the Fall. Parents may request a specific division placement
which will be considered but we cannot guarantee the requested
placement will be honored.
Moving Up
from T-ball as a Six-Year-Old: Most Playing Age six-year-olds
will be placed in T-ball. There are a limited number of spots in Rookie
(Coach Pitch) for six year olds. A Playing Age 6 player may quailify
for one of these spots if all of these conditions are
met:
- Having his or her parent request that the player be placed in Rookie
- Having a prior year's experience in T-ball
- Having approval from a Player Agent
A parent may request their Playing Age 6 player be assigned
to Rookie by making a notation in the "Special Requests" section
of the registration form.
Note that all Playing Age 5-year-olds will be
placed in T-ball per Little League rules.
Fees:
The Registration Fee for the Fall 2004 season is as follows:
- $50.00 -- First player in a family
- $40.00 -- Each additional player in a family
Dulles Little League has a policy to waive
the fee for participants who would be unable to play otherwise. (Contact
John Dec
for details).
Each player will receive to keep a jersey and a hat from
the league. The league will also provide the following equipment for
use at games and practices: batting helmets, catcher's gear, bats, baseballs,
and bases.Players need to provide their own baseball pants, shoes, and
protective cups.
Birth Certificates:
The league needs a copy on file of birth certificates for all players.
This is required by Little League in order to document the eligibility
of our players. We are asking players new to the league to supply
a copy of their birth certificate with their registration.
For American birth certificates, the copy needs to include a copy of
the official raised seal. Photocopies are OK -- we do not require
official copies. If the player is registering in person, please
bring the birth certificate or a copy to the Walk-In center. If registering
on-line, please mail a copy of the birth certificate to the address
given on the bottom of this page or bring a copy to the walk-in center.
Volunteers.
Dulles Little League is a volunteer organization. The league
asks each family to make a volunteer commitment in one or more areas.
This volunteer activity has the potential for being extremely rewarding.
The league also offers a $100 opt-out fee per family in lieu of volunteering.
See the Volunteer
Descriptions for more information.
Season:
Final schedules are still being worked out, but it is expected
that the fall season will run from just after Labor Day through near
the end of October. The season will be preceded by a period of team
practices. Teams will generally be scheduled for two games per week
-- a Saturday daytime and a weeknight game. In general the game days
and times for each age division will be the same each week.
For T-ball teams, the season is slightly different. There
is generally no practice during the week, just a game on Saturday and
a game during the week. Due to field availability, the game during the
week may be on different days on different weeks.
Standings are not kept and there are no playoffs in the
Fall season.
Challenger
Division: There is no Challenger program in the Fall. We'll see
you in the Spring of 2005.

Prospective
Managers, Coaches, and Umpires
If you are interested in managing or coaching a team in
the 2004 Fall Season, or have signed up to be an umpire, there is an
additional form you need to fill out. This is the 2004
Little League Volunteer Form. Little League requirements
now make it mandatory to complete this form in order to be
considered for a manager or coach position. You can either bring it
to a walk-in registration center or mail it to the league P.O. box (found
at the bottom of this page). If you mail it in, please enclose a note
indicating that this is in support of your application to manage or
coach in the 2004 Fall season.
