SPRING
Playing Age for the 2008 Spring season is determined by a player's age as of April 30, 2008.
Parents are notified in mid to late March which team their
child is placed on.
Practices begin late March, and continue for most divisions
(except T-Ball, Instructional Rookie and Rookie) through the end of the season.
There is generally a short (2 week) pre-season consisting
of practices and scrimmage games.
The 2007 Spring season ran from just after LCPS Spring Break
through a week before school ended.
The season generally consists of 12-16 games. Team will
have one game during the week and a game on Saturday.
There are no games scheduled on Sunday, except possible
make-up games.
The League does not schedule any games during Memorial
Day weekend or public school vacations.
Spring season features an Opening Day ceremony and DLL Fest, involving
a parade of teams into Crittenden Field, a guest speaker, food, fun and games.
SUMMER
The Summer Fun Ball (SFB) season begins
in early July and runs until the end of August. There
are no practices. SFB is all FUN & GAMES! Just ask
any of the 100+ players from the 2007 summer.
Playing Age for the 2007 Summer Fun Ball session is determined by a player's age as of April 30, 2008.
This program is designed to offer the
kids a supervised but very casual baseball experience.
The kids generally pick their own teams each night. Coaches
and umpires are on hand to instruct the kids when necessary
but most of the instruction comes from just playing and
learning by experience.
The coaches make sure the kids rotate
positions so they all get a chance to play each position
they want to play. No child is turned away, all are welcome.
SFB usually plays one or two nights a week and every Saturday.
We will be working to get some of the other local Little
leagues involved this year to add a little variety to
the game.
FALL
Playing age is determined by a player's age as of April 30 of the NEXT calendar year.
The DLL Fall season usually runs September 1st through the third or fourth weekend of October.
The season generally consists of approximately 12. Players are assigned to teams in August. Practices
begin late August, continue through October for certain divisions, and there
is generally no pre-season.
The DLL Fall season is much more instructional in nature. Standings are not kept,
and there is no playoff season. ALL players are assigned to Divisions and teams by the DLL player agents based on a player's playing age and previous division.
Important Note: The Division of play in the Fall season is NO INDICATOR of the Division where a player will play in the Spring.
