Tryout Information and Tryout Schedule
for the 2008 Spring DLL Season

January 5, 2008 9:22 AM

This web page provides detailed tryout information for the 2008 Spring Dulles Little League (DLL) baseball season. The detailed tryout schedule appears at the bottom of this web page.

This information is intended primarily for players who are eligible for tryouts and who have registered or are waitlisted for the 2008 Spring DLL baseball season. "Playing Age" is a player's age as of April 30, 2008.

Everyone who meets the age and residency requirements who wants to play Little League can play. Tryouts are used as part of the team assignment process in order to establish balanced teams and to place players in divisions.

More specifically:

  • All players of Playing Age 8-12 as of April 30, 2008 wanting to play in the Single A through Majors divisions (INCLUDING ALL returning Majors players) need to attend a tryout session.
  • In addition, all players of Playing Age 7 as of April 30, 2008 who have a birthday between May 1 and July 31 AND are interested in trying out for the Single A division need to attend a tryout session.
  • NO other players, regardless of playing age or experience, are required or permitted to attend a tryout session.

The primary tryout dates for the 2008 Spring season are Saturday, January 19, 2008 and Saturday, January 26, 2008 . The two tryout make-up dates will be Tuesday, January 29, 2008 and Thursday, January 31, 2008. These sessions will be used to help DLL Player Agents prepare for the Single A, AA, AAA and Majors player drafts.

We are actively seeking volunteers to help with the upcoming tryouts. No experience required for most positions that need to be filled. Send an email to the Tryout Volunteer Coordinator to express interest.

This year, all tryouts will again be held indoors at Diamond Sports Training (DST) . DST is located at 45685 Oakbrook Court, Suite 110, Sterling, VA, 20166. Click here for driving directions. Players should appropriate baseball attire, wear tennis shoes (no cleats) and bring their glove. They may also bring their own bat. Equipment should be labeled with player’s name and phone number. Parents are NOT permitted downstairs at DST to watch their player tryout.

Players who are required to tryout have been assigned a time and a date based on their age and the first letter or two of their last name. Due to the substantial logistical demands of conducting the tryouts, the league asks that players make every effort to attend their assigned tryout session. However, if due to unavoidable circumstances it is not possible for a player to attend his or her assigned session, players may attend another session for players of the same playing age. Click here to view DLL's Tryout Survival Guide which contains more information about the tryout sessions.
