This page provides detailed Player Evaluation (formerly “tryout”) information for the Spring Dulles Little League (DLL) baseball season. The detailed Player Evaluation (PE) schedule (dates and times) appears at the bottom of this web page.

Everyone who meets the age and residency requirements can play in Dulles Little League.  PE’s are used as part of the team assignment process in order to establish balanced teams at each level and to place players in divisions.

PE’s are applicable to all players that are registered or are waitlisted for the Spring DLL baseball season that wish to play in division Single A and above through Seniors.

All Player Evaluation sessions will be held indoors at Replay Sports in Ashburn.  Click here for driving directions to Replay.

Please also bring a filled out Waiver Form to save time when you arrive.

Who MUST attend?

  • All players of League Age 7-16 that want to play in the Single A through Seniors division.

Who MAY attend?

  • Players of League Age 7 or 8 who are unsure of the division that they should play in, should attend the PE session.  If you are unsure about your player’s skill level, have your player attend the session and ask your DLL Player Agent for guidance.  E-mail to help determine whether your 7/8 should play Rookie or be part of the Single A draft.
  • NOTE 1:  If your player is League Age 7 and 8 and does not attend a PE session, he/she will automatically be assigned to the Rookie Division.
  • NOTE 2:   All League Age 7's and 8's who are part of the Single A draft, but not drafted, will be automatically assigned to a team in the Rookie division.

Who should NOT attend?

  • All players of League Age 5-8 who are registered for Rookie through T-Ball should NOT attend the PE session.

Here are the 2020 DLL PE dates.

Please Note, with the exception of age restrictions, attending an evaluation for an expected division does not guarantee placement in that division.  All players in divisions from Single A through Majors are assigned through draft and may be drafted into a lower division based on league age.

Players are urged to attend one of the Primary PE dates.  Reporting during your scheduled reporting time on a Primary PE date will greatly help keep the evaluations on schedule.  Players will not be permitted to attend a PE session that is not consistent with their League Age.

To have evaluations run smoothly we ask that you plan on attending your primary evaluation date and time.  Do not just come to a different time, it will disrupt evaluations for all the other players and volunteers.  If you cannot make your scheduled time or a scheduled make-up time, notify the playeragents so they can pre-arrange this during another time slot.  These are the only available times we have with DST and all Spring players in Single A through Majors must attend one.

Players are permitted to attend only ONE PE session.  A player's PE date and time is determined by their League Age (not based on the division in which they hope to play).

Players should wear appropriate baseball attire, sneakers (no cleats) and bring their glove.  They may also bring their own bat and helmet.  Player equipment should be labeled with player’s name and phone number.

Parents are NOT permitted downstairs at DST to watch their player’s evaluation.   DLL has also created a DLL Player Evaluation Survival Guide which contains more information about the PE process.

Players who are eligible for a PE session have been assigned a time and a date based on their age and the first letter of their last name.  Due to the substantial logistical demands of conducting the PE’s, the league asks that players make every effort to attend their assigned PE session.  However, if due to unavoidable circumstances it is not possible for a player to attend his or her assigned session, players may attend another session for players of the same League Age

Here is the complete PE schedule for the 2019 Spring Season.
