Majors Skills Challenge presented by Velocity Sports Performance

As a part of the DLL FEST Celebration,  a Hitting, Running and Throwing Skills Challenge has been developed.  Many of our 12 year old players have been in the league since they were 5 years of age.  As a part of the celebration on 4/9/05, three 12 year olds from each team will be selected by their managers to participate in this exciting event. Watch the the fastest runner, top hitter and top thrower from each Majors team compete head-to-head in this exciting event.  Trophies will be awarded in each of the skills for the top timed base runner, top points leader in throwing accuracy from centerfield to home and the top hitter for power and consistency.  This event will take place on Field 2 at Crittenden from 12:00 Noon -1:30 PM during the FEST.  There will be a crowd, a PA announcer and LIVE Music to get the kids pumped up to compete.  We will move the home plate area up for the hitting competition to highlight the "Long Ball!"

DLL Opening Day Parade Team Spirit Contest

Have your team show their true colors this year in the DLL Opening Day Parade.  As many of you know, 2005 marks 15 years of Little League Baseball in Ashburn and the Dulles South area.  We are in a new District and have reached an all-time high in the number of teams and the number of kids participating in our league! Many teams in the past years have been using banners for their teams in the DLL Opening Day Parade.

This year we would like your teams to show their spirit not only for their team but also for the entire DLL Community.  Let's turn it up a notch or two!  The DLL Board is asking each team to be as creative as possible and utilize props, flags, banners, whatever it takes to give your team a theme based around it's name, the city the actual MLB team resides in or any other baseball related idea you, your parents and the kids can think of.  Each team will be judged and a winner declared for each division.  The prize for each winning team will be a pizza party at Jerry's Subs and Pizza in Ashburn paid for by the DLL Board.  Utilize your winning prize for an end of the year party, a mid-year party or whenever your team decides they want to celebrate.  Good luck and have FUN!!!!

Opening Day Speaker and Parade Grand Marshall: Mr. Paul Blair

DLL is pleased to announce the Opening Day Speaker and Parade Grand Marshall: Mr. Paul Blair, formerly of the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees. Paul played in 6 World Series and also hit a memorable home run in Game 3 of the 1966 World Series, which was the only run of the game and helped the Orioles in their sweep of the Dodgers that year.
