DLL Majors AL and Juniors All-Stars Reach District Final


AL Majors Team Finishes Second in Regional


Two of Dulles Little Leagues All-Star teams had excellent showings in the Area 1 Little League All-Star Tournament. The DLL American League Majors All-Star team, lead by the pitching of Cole Shain and the offense of Jeron Gouveia and Mike Stancik. The AL squad compiled a 4-1 record in the round robin portion of the tournament and beat the previously undefeated Upper Loudoun 12-5 in the playoffs, forcing a second playoff game with the Upper Loudoun American squad.

Unfortunately, DLL was unable to beat the UL team a second time, but gave the previously undefeated UL team all they could handle before succumbing 5-4 in the Championship game. The DLL American League team consisted of Brandon Beckner, Justin Trimble, Ryan McKigney, Jimmy Bradford, Ryan Plummer, Ricky Davidson, Christopher Jessop, Jeron Gouveia, Alex Munro, Jonathan George, Mike Stancik, Cole Shain, David Tiedge. As previously mentioned, Cole Shain was 3-0 for the American League Squad. The AL team was managed by Earl McKigney.

DLL Juniors Team Finishes Second in Regional

The DLL Juniors all-stars went 5 and 2 in the district tournament and was one game away from advancing. The Junior team's statistics over the tournament were impressive achieving a cumulative team ERA of only 2.52. DLL scored 44 runs against their opponents while only allowing 29 runs. They had an impressive on-base percentage of .452, and a batting average of .286.

DLL was not only strong at the plate, but they also played strong defense the entire tournament, turning several double plays in every game, and achieving a 5.00 put out to error ratio. Individually, Ryan Kash was DLL's top pitcher going 2 and 1 in 4 appearances and obtaining a 1.556 ERA. Offensively, Harold Willis was the batting champ with a .438 batting average and an on-base percentage of .636, knocking in 8 RBIs, and hitting 3 home runs. Mikey Ray won the gold glove for his play at 1st and 3rd base, getting 33 put outs and 5 assists against 0 errors. Everyone on the team stepped up and raised their level of play. Congratulations to the Juniors All Stars.
